This Chain O' Lakes Cottage is our Ideal Fourth of July Retreat

A lakeside cottage in the woods is about as perfect a Fourth of July setting as they come. Our Cottage on Beasley Lake in Waupaca, WI was made for warm summer celebrations. Days are filled with boat rides and popsicles while the nighttime brings sparklers and s’mores. It’s the place of first swims, stories by the bonfire and family reuniting around the table. While gatherings are a little smaller this year, we’re still able to fill every corner of our home with memories and celebrate moments big and small.

Two Mini Renovations that Transformed our home in Savannah's Historic District

We’re no strangers to finding properties with good bones that need complete overhauls. We’ve gutted the interiors of buildings, built from the ground up and completely started from scratch. However, some of our spaces simply need a little TLC to enhance their original beauty. We recently gave the courtyard and kitchen at our Madison Square Manor in Savannah, GA some love, which transformed those spaces to make them more cohesive with this historic home.

Bedrooms that Take Comfort Very Seriously

We spend the majority of our lives in bed, which is precisely why we prioritize comfort in each bedroom at our Elsewhere homes. As most of us are housebound at this time, it seems especially appropriate to make our bedrooms feel like retreats. They should be sanctuaries where worries are unwelcome and the busyness of your day is left at the door. Beds shouldn't be used for working, overthinking or stressing. Instead, they should be spaces for decompressing, unwinding and escaping.

These Whimsical Kids' Rooms Guarantee Sweet Dreams

Adults aren’t the only guests who get a special experience when the stay at an Elsewhere home. We aim to bring magic and whimsy into every space, which is easy to do when children are innately more imaginative than we are. Our Madison Square Manor in Savannah’s Historic District is home to some of our favorite kids’ spaces. After adding little ones to our family, we gave new life to two of the existing rooms in our home to accommodate dress up, puppet shows, coloring and sweet dreams.

There is one space in every home that accumulates the most clutter. For many, it’s the kitchen. Appliances are bulky and, in most instances, unsightly. Cabinets and drawers tend to hide the undesirable mess and perpetuate the “out of sight, out of mind” mentality. It’s the ideal space for allowing things to get out of hand without even realizing it. While we’re still at home practicing social distancing, it’s the perfect time to tackle organizing the spaces in your home that have caused you the most stress in the past. Each Elsewhere space has been curated to showcase the home’s surroundings and capture the history and feeling the cities in which they reside evoke. Our Madison Square Manor in Savannah’s Historic District sits on a city square lined with Spanish-moss draped trees. While the home is just steps from local eateries, cafes, boutiques, antique shops and a thriving community, time seems to move slowly here. Hustle and bustle aren’t words found in the locals’ vocabulary and that essence won’t be found in the walls of our home. The pace is as slow as the days are warm, which allows guests to drink in every moment they spend here.
