How We Furnish Our Madison Square Manor in Historic Savannah

Each Elsewhere space has been curated to showcase the home’s surroundings and capture the history and feeling the cities in which they reside evoke. Our Madison Square Manor in Savannah’s Historic District sits on a city square lined with Spanish-moss draped trees. While the home is just steps from local eateries, cafes, boutiques, antique shops and a thriving community, time seems to move slowly here. Hustle and bustle aren’t words found in the locals’ vocabulary and that essence won’t be found in the walls of our home. The pace is as slow as the days are warm, which allows guests to drink in every moment they spend here. Each article of furniture and art in the Madison Square Manor has been thoughtfully handpicked to reflect just that.

While we source many of our core pieces in our homes from Restoration Hardware, we work to bring in antique or custom items to tell a more personal story in each room. Above you’ll see an antique upholstered settee in the Madison Square Manor’s master suite. On the right, you’ll see antique Chinese paintings and a pink leather chair, both found at Jere’s Antiques on Jefferson Street in Savannah.

We also look to local shops to source special items for our homes. The antique dresser seen in our Library Suite as well as the burl wood antique armoire in our second-floor corner room were both found at Cohen’s Retreat on Skidway Road in Savannah. The Chinese Elm Cabinet in our Garden Level Suite’s bathroom was made into a vanity by Goldon House Gallery on Bay Street in Savannah.

Goldon House Gallery also provided us with the antique Chinese Elm stools throughout the home as well as the antique Chinese Elm buffet table that houses our antique birdcage in the main floor dining room.

Jere’s Antiques also supplied us with the antique dresser placed in our Master Suite. On the far right is an antique carriage seat bench found at Cohen’s Retreat. We’ve placed this exceptional piece in the entryway of our Garden Level Suite.

Best Etsy shops for antique furniture

In our main entryway rests a bamboo and burl wood side table from Studio180 on Etsy. In our second floor hallway are sets of antique Chinese cane chairs we found and salvaged from our garage in Savannah when we first purchased the home. Also shown is a refurbished black lacquered side table, which we sourced from VintageRemixDesign on Etsy.
