Remember to Add Flowers to Your Grocery List
Why you should add flowers to your grocery list
If there is a small luxury that brings you joy during this time, we encourage you to add it to your list of essentials. For us, it’s flowers. No room in any Elsewhere home is without foliage of some kind. It has been said that there are healing powers in plants - we’d have to agree. We have some local shops we frequent for our blooms, which we’re excited to share below. However, when on a budget and looking to keep your errands exclusively to essentials, don’t forget about the unsung hero for flowers - your local grocery store.
Nearly every grocery store offers a floral department with a selection of bouquets, stems and arrangements for competitive prices. Some stores have discount days where certain flowers are $5-10. We look forward to swiping bouquets of tulips on Flower Fridays in the spring and affordable peonies in the summer months. Throughout the year, we often opt for wildflowers or assorted greenery for a more rustic and minimal arrangement.
Best local flower shops in Oshkosh and Appleton, WI
When dressing our home in Oshkosh and cabins in Waupaca, we rely on the beautiful blooms found at House of Flowers. The team has plants and arrangements available for purchase, but they also allow guests to help themselves to their cooler to select flowers by the stem. Right now, House of Flowers is offering delivery and curbside pickup to accommodate guests in need of their exceptional designs.
We also frequent Branching Out in Appleton, WI for locally sourced florals that brighten every space. The Flower Mill is also one of our favorite florists for her stunning, unique arrangements. Lauren is hosting a virtual floral arrangement workshop, which we’ll be attending this Friday.
All of our signature pampas grass for our Oshkosh homes from TheSunAdobe and Autumngrassland on Etsy.
If plant life is more your speed, Kaitlin at Kin & Company is truly the best. Not only is she one of the kindest humans you’ll ever encounter, she has a discerning eye for plants and hand selects the baskets, planters and stands they come in. Kin & Company is also offering curbside pickup and has a selection of plants available for sale at Rise & Grind - A Community Space in Downtown Oshkosh. Visitors simply select the piece they want, view the price at the bottom of the plant and Venmo Kin & Company before leaving with their new plant.
Best places to get flowers in Savannah, GA
The Elsewhere team dabbles in floral design as a hobby, which is why we rely on Carlstedt’s Wholesale when we’re in Savannah. With one of the most extensive and stunning selections of flowers we’ve seen, Carlstedt’s allows us to customize our arrangements affordably to our hearts’ content.
Urban Poppy on Abercorn Street also gets a great deal of our business when we want to leave the arrangements to the professionals. Their use of unique florals and classic greenery makes for ethereal and artistic pieces we wish could last for forever.
One of the signatures at the Madison Square Manor is our use of lavender in each room. We stock up at the infamous Paris Market for bunches and sachets of lavender each time we stay in Savannah.
Whether you’re shopping your blooms at your local grocery store or flower shop, give yourself permission to add a fresh bouquet to your list as you’re able to. We all need to savor the little joys today and everyday.
