Best Fall Outdoor Activities in Savannah, GA

Fall is truly when Savannah comes alive. Whether you’re a lover of autumn settings or spooky Halloween adventures, Savannah, GA is one of the most exciting places to visit when the season changes to fall. The hot summer days fade and the city’s weather reaches a more bearable temperature. It’s the perfect time to be outside in one of the most beautiful cities in the country. As we’re still trying to enjoy our surroundings safely, we wanted to share some of the best fall outdoor activities folks can experience in Savannah.

Strolls in city squares

Savannah’s squares are where so much of the city’s magic happens. With 22 squares around the city, visitors can grab a coffee from The Collins Quarter’s outdoor to-go window (on Bull Street) then take slow walks along the paved parks. Our Madison Square Manor, as its name suggests, borders Madison Square, which is located at Bull and Macon Streets. Guests who stay with us can walk out our front door and set up their picnic right across the street. Our friends at Visit Savannah have put together a full list of Savannah’s immaculate squares and parks - check them out here.

Hang out in Forsyth Park

The Forsyth Farmer’s Market is every Saturday from 9 am-1 pm. Visitors can stop by all of the incredible vendors at the market and stock up on groceries for the rest of the week. For a nice afternoon pick-me-up, visitors can also grab a quick coffee or snack from The Collins Quarter’s Forsyth location.

Private Savannah bike tours

One of the best ways to consume as much of the city as possible in an efficient amount of time is to take a Savannah bike tour. Whether you’re wanting to roll through the city on your own or you’d prefer a guided tour, traveling by bicycle is one of the best ways to experience Savannah. In order to keep yourself and your loved ones safe while biking, perhaps consider a private bike tour from one of the following guides. Savannah On Wheels offers a guided glimpse into the city’s vast history. They allow guests to choose between group our private tours where they have the option of bringing their own bike or using a rental bike (regular or electric). They have committed to guest safety by sanitizing the bikes before and after use and by observing social distancing guidelines. Savannah Bike Tours is another guided tour that offers both group and private tours. Guests will have several opportunities to learn about the city while having frequent stops for taking photos.

Cemetery & ghost tours

With Halloween just around the corner, visitors can experience the spookier parts of Savannah with either a cemetery or ghost tour. Folks can take a tour of Savannah’s oldest cemetery, Colonial Park Cemetery, or its most famous, Bonaventure Cemetery. As these are not ghost tours, the cemeteries are great for those who want to experience Savannah’s history without the scare factor. For those seeking a more haunting experience this Halloween, Ghost City Tours is one of the most infamous ghost tour groups. With family-friendly and adults-only options, Ghost City Tours tailors its tours for every audience to ensure everyone gets an appropriate experience. All of its tours are outdoors, perfect for social distancing.

These outdoor events in Savannah are just the start of the activities visitors can experience during their stay. It’s easy to see the city safely and while practicing social distancing. Bring your mask, hand sanitizer and sense of adventure along with you this fall!
