Elsewhere Holiday Gift Guides: For the Plant Lover

Best holiday gifts for a plant lover Christmas 2020

One of the best things to come out of quarantine, apart from sourdough starters, is the influx of plants many of us have added to our homes. Caring for plants during this time has been a rewarding and relaxing way to get through each day. Whether you’re a lifelong plant enthusiast or a newly discovered plant parent, below are some of the holiday gift ideas any plant lover will appreciate.

*Please keep in mind that these are just intended for inspiration. We encourage you to tailor these ideas to your budgets, needs & traditions!

  1. Watering can - keeping your plants properly hydrated is a delicate balancing act. This watering can from Wildewood, one of our favorite plant shops in Wisconsin, is a beautiful option for plant care. We also love this one and this one from YELO APLE.

  2. Plants from Kin & Co. - there isn’t anyone else in the Fox Valley that’s offering a curated collection of plants like Kin & Co. After recently opening up their shop in Oshkosh, WI, Kin & Co. makes it easy to add the most special plants, vintage pots and homewares to your collection. For safe shopping, select an appointment with shop owner, Kaitlin, or shop her story sales on Instagram.

  3. Art prints - for those who prefer to have plants that will live forever, art prints are a beautiful option. We love these prints from Kenesha Sneed, as well as these and these.

  4. Flower pots - flower pots and vases are the perfect accompaniment to some fresh blooms from places like House of Flowers in Oshkosh, WI or Carlstedt’s in Savannah, GA. We love all of these from Yowie.

  5. Gardening books - whether you want to brush up on your gardening knowledge or have some gorgeous coffee table books out on display, we love the idea of gifting things like Kinfolk’s new book “The Kinfolk Garden.” We also love this and this and this.

  6. Monthly flower subscription - if you’re looking for a gift that lasts all year, consider a special monthly flower subscription from your local florist like The Flower Mill or Branching Out & Co.

  7. Planters - once you’ve picked up a new plant from Kin & Co. or Wildewood, be sure to give it a home. We love this one from Sister Golden.

  8. Gift sets - we’ve suggested pairing flowers with a vase and plants with a planter, but we also love the idea of gifting a plant with a book. House of Flowers in Oshkosh, WI has gift sets like these already curated.

  9. Skincare - plant-based skincare is a great way to combine a loved one’s passion for beauty and plants. We love this Good Medicine Skin Tea from Poppy Avenue Clean Beauty Bar (or really anything from Poppy as all of their products are clean, green and cruelty free). We also love this face mask and everything from Clary Collection.

  10. Vintage pots & vases - we love the idea of thrifting or vintage shopping for pre-loved vases and pots. Spark Haus Vintage always shares beautiful pottery on their Instagram Story Sales and in store. We also have a list of antique stores we love that have tons of pre-loved planters available.
